Forced Induction

A forced induction system is a system of bringing air, usually into a car, by means of pressure or other instances. There are two main types of forced induction systems, superchargers and turbochargers. So, what do these do differently? Don't they both bring air? Well, yes, but here's the thing. Superchargers, well known in V8 and larger engines, are known to give very small horsepower gains and can use a ton of gas. A turbocharger can be used for economy OR racing, and can give better mileage if you don't spool it like crazy. Not to mention, 4-cylinder cars can use turbochargers. Cost wise, turbo's are the way to go, which can be 1000-2000 dollars cheaper, if you get a sort of small and lower end one. Superchargers can go for $5,000 for good ones. Turbochargers, for the best brands, like Garrett and Precision, can go for +/- $3,000. This keeps the turbochargers nice, affordable, and in a sense, the best. For superchargers, the best brands are Paxton, Edelbrok, and Magnacharge.
Also, something about the turbocharger is that if a car comes stock turbocharged, the engine's "name" will have a "t" at the end. Such at VR30DETT is twin turbo because is has two T's. Now I think I might do something different today.
